Our French School offers a variety of specialty courses in addition to traditional language classes for adults. We build Vermont's
Francophone/Francophile community by hosting French conversation hours and other social events. And we strive to keep you informed
about French-related cultural happenings in northern Vermont.
Learn French with the AFLCR! Our courses focus on grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, and our experienced instructors make learning
engaging and supportive for all levels.
You don’t have to speak French to participate in activities through the Alliance Française. We welcome everyone that is interested in learning and experiencing French and Francophile culture.

WHAT: It's A CONCERT! As veteran performers and dance musicians, Jeremiah
McLane (accordion,
piano) and Tim Cummings (pipes, whistles), both of Triton fame,
and McKinley James (cello) of Malvenn fame, are roundly excited
to be combining forces again to share their love of traditional Breton and other pan-European repertoire, alongside a handful of inspired
original tunes. Their impassioned music will be offered by way of an unlikely combination of instruments that exudes both Old World and orchestral overtones. This energetic, multigenerational trio is bound to impress and move you with their musicianship, dynamism,
and infectious vim.
It's also A DANCE! After a 45 minute concert set, we'll move chairs aside and get dancing. "Balfolk"
refers to the recent revival of popular social dances from Western Europe, with an emphasis on traditional ‘folk’ dances from France.
In honor of the Fête de la Saint-Yves (Fête de la Bretagne), we’ll focus a bit more on the traditions of Brittany, the ‘Celtic’ region of
Northwest France. Expect an accessible mix of partner dances, group dances, and entrancing chain dances will be featured,
including an dros, bourrées, gavottes, mazurkas, ronds, scottishes, waltzes, and more, all guided by Vermont's own Mary Wesley!
WHEN: Tuesday, 19 May 2026 — 6:30pm (doors), 7pm (45min. concert), 8pm (90min. dance)
WHO: Open to the public, all ages welcome, no partner necessary.
WHERE: Richmond
Free Library, 201 Bridge Street, Richmond, VT 05477
COST: $15-$25 sliding scale (no one turned away)
