On March 28 Vermont celebrated international francophony on March 28 with a flag-raising at the Winooski School District Performing Arts Center.
The event was hosted by Winooski mayor Kristine Lott. It was co-sponsored by the AFLCR, the Burlington-Honfleur Sister City Committee, the French Consulate General in Boston, and the Ministry of International Relations and La Francophonie in Quebec.
During the event, the mayor read Governor Scott’s proclamation recognizing Francophony month. The Addison County musical group Va-et-Vient performed, and Mount Abraham Union High School students spoke on why learning French is important to them. Town Meeting TV recorded the event—the video is accessible here.
