“L’été dernier” at GMFF, March 17

Screening at the Green Mountain Film Festival, Montpelier, VT

Synopsis: Powerful lawyer Anne is seemingly happily married to her husband Pierre. When Pierre’s estranged stepson Theo, a 17-year-old with a disregard for authority, moves in with them, Anne is inextricably drawn to the teenager. Anne and Theo begin an illicit affair that leads to a web of lies. Whereas other filmmakers might shy away from discomfort and taboo, Breillat leans in, dissecting this relationship and digging deep into the detached morals of the woman at its center.
