Louisiana is presented in history books, tourism promotion ads, films, and popular speech as a former “French” colony. But what does that actually mean and who was actually there?

Joseph Dunn has worked in Louisiana’s tourism and cultural industries for nearly 30 years. He is a recognized thought leader in matters related to the representation and interpretation of Louisiana’s diverse French and Creole-speaking populations.
