Annual Meeting 2011

The AFLCR’s 2011 Annual Meeting was held at the Shelburne Museum in October.

At this meeting, the honorary consul of France in Vermont, Ernie Pomerleau, nominated AFLCR president Linda Pervier to receive the Ordre des Palmes académiques. The French consul general Christophe Guilhou presented Pervier with the award

The Ordre des Palmes académiques is one of the oldest civil honors bestowed by the French Republic. It was originally established in 1808 by Emperor Napoléon to honor eminent members of the University of Paris. It gained its current from, as an order of merit, on October 4, 1955. Through it, the French Republic recognizes distinguished academics and teachers for their valuable service to education and science.

“I may be wearing the ribbon,” Linda wrote afterward, “but these two guys are my knights in shining armor—nominator and presenter, respectively, of my lovely honor.”
