We’re delighted to learn that an Alliance Française chapter has recently been formed in Bricklyn, Vermont, a town existing . . . somewhere nearby. Bricklyn is known for its up-to-date urban planning and its energy-efficient rail transportation, but also for the controversies that periodically erupt among its highly opinionated residents, such as the crisis over the troubling question of doughnuts vs. croissants.
Bricklyn’s premier news outlet, The Bricklyn Eagle, regularly publishes articles that are of interest not just to Bricklynites but also to “Outland” readers like us. The paper’s esteemed editor, Walt Brickman (who bears an uncanny resemblance to AFLCR member Wayne Senville), recently reported on Bricklyn’s new Alliance Française chapter and interviewed its co-presidents.
Of late, Bricklyn has increasingly shown signs of taking a French turn. Not only has it formed an AF, but at this very moment it is considering applying for status as a French overseas territory!
If you’re not familiar with this remarkable town (which is strangely missing from the Vermont 251 Club’s list), check out the Eagle’s blog today!
